Happy 4th of July!

I hope you had a wonderful Independence Day! I know I sure did!

This year was a little different than normal. Jeff's family had a small reunion with relatives he's met, maybe once or twice before. It was actually a lot of fun and it's always great to meet people you're related to!

The cool thing was, it took place on a family property that is now owned by the city. An in-law's family owned a home/dairy and eventually got purchased by the city. It has become a historical site and we even got a tour! It had many historic things, such as shoe making molds, pianos/organs, telephones, etc and every room was decorated as if it were still in those times. Some of them were even original to the house. It was cool to see how things worked back in the 20's and 30's.

The one creepy thing I learned was about old photos. Apparently, waaaaaaay back in the day, if you didn't get your photo taken when you were alive, they opened the dead persons eyes and took the photo that way. There was one on the wall that was pointed out to us....CREEPY! I'll never look at old photos the same.....BLEH!

Then we came to my sister-in-law's house to do a BBQ and set off fireworks. It was really fun to gather as a family and enjoy the evening together.

The puppies have discovered that they don't like fireworks and were pretty scared. But overall, they had a great time with us.

Here are a few pics of the day:

How did you spend your 4th of July?
